The story of how I got here

I’m a UX/UI designer with a background in marketing and graphic design. Throughout my career, I’ve worked on everything from branding and digital marketing to web design and internal tools, helping teams work more efficiently. These experiences sparked my passion for creating intuitive, visually engaging digital products that make people’s lives easier.

After 12 years in marketing and design, I wanted to expand my skills—not just creating visuals and campaigns, but shaping the digital experiences behind them. This led me to UX/UI design, where I blend problem-solving skills with aesthetics sense to craft enjoyable and effective user experiences. Now, I’m focused on building impactful, user-friendly designs, collaborating with diverse teams, and continuously growing as a designer.

1989 - 2009
I was born in Cartagena, Colombia, where I lived until I was 20.

At 14 years old, with no previous training, I built my first website—a pre-Facebook social platform for my group of friends to post updates about the fun things we did at school. That moment sparked my passion for tech, creativity, and digital experiences.

This led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising at Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, where I developed a strong foundation in visual communication, branding, and design principles. While in university, I taught myself design software, drawn to the visual side of the industry.
2010 - 2017
After graduation, I moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I worked in marketing and graphic design for a stationery company specializing in weddings and social events.

In 2015, I returned to Cartagena and launched my own business: Alma Invitaciones, a wedding stationery studio. Running the company solo was demanding yet very rewarding—I handled everything from design and marketing to optimizing the customer journey. My work gained national recognition when Zankyou Weddings ranked Alma Invitaciones among the top 5 wedding invitation companies in Colombia in 2016.
2018 - 2022
So much has happened in this period. I worked as marketing manager for luxury travel agencies in Colombia and the U.S. My role started with marketing, social media, and digital design, but over time, I expanded my expertise into:

• Web design: Built 15 websites in WordPress and Webflow, improving customer engagement and lead generation.
• Multimedia production: Mastered drone photography, videography, and video editing in Adobe Premiere.
• Workflow optimization: Created internal digital tools that automated manual tasks and streamlined travel planning, improving efficiency in the team.

Wearing multiple hats in these roles strengthened my ability to problem-solve, adapt quickly, and create user-centered digital solutions.

In 2021, I took a major career step: after evaluating my passions and industry trends, I decided to pursue education in UX/UI design. With my solid foundation in visual design and web development, this felt like a natural transition.

In 2022, I competed in a national UX design contest in Colombia and won 3rd place among 400 designers, showcasing my ability to craft innovative, user-centered solutions with crazy time constraints.
2023 - 2025
In 2023, I moved to the Netherlands and landed my first UX design role at a construction cost consultancy. This experience allowed me to:
• Apply user research, personas, and user journeys to real-world projects.
• Design wireframes, prototypes in Figma, and scalable design systems built with Tailwind CSS components.
• Work closely with developers to ensure seamless handoff and implementation.
• Explore prompt engineering to optimize design workflows with AI-powered tools.

Now, in October 2024, I’ve moved to London, UK, ready for my next challenge.

I’m excited to bring my UX expertise, problem-solving mindset, and design skills to a company where I can create intuitive, impactful user experiences. I’m particularly interested in roles focused on end-to-end product design, design systems, and interaction design.
